How to make anti-inflammatory golden milk.

golden milk

This turmeric tea has now become part of our nightly rituals. It is so easy to make and has so many benefits. It nourishes your mind, body and soul. Golden milk contains anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory goodness.  It also lowers your blood sugar levels, helps your liver to detoxify, boosts your immune system and eases your digestive system – all of which help you sleep better.

For more information on all the benefits of turmeric visit here.

There are many variations of making golden millk, here is the one that I like best:

  • 1/2 teaspoon organic ground tumeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon sweetner of choice, I used stevia.
  • Dash of fresh ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of coconut oil
  • 2 cups of unsweetened cashew milk

Add the milk to a saucepan. Stir in turmeric, pepper, coconut oil and Stevia. Heat the milk in low heat and bring to a low a simmer. Takes about 5 minutes. When the milk starts bubbling let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat.
Pour the milk into two cups and sprinkle the cinnamon.

First time I tried the recipe, I used the microwave to warm the milk, do not take this short cut as it does not taste the same. Also some people do not like the taste of pepper, you can omit this but keep in mind pepper helps with the absorption of turmeric.  Coconut oil can also be omitted.

We grew up drinking them while growing up … Used to hate it back then and now it is popular and can be found in cafes 🙂

Question…I’m not a fan of stevia or any other sweetener for that matter. Would it be terrible without sweetener? I can tolerate honey. This sounds interesting and I would like to try it.

I’ve heard of Golden Milk before I actually had no idea what it was. I actually bumped into a lady at the doctor’s office who said that her pain had improved since taking tumeric supplements, I bet this would be a much better option

I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate turmeric into my diet. This one looks good, but I don’t use the artificial sweeteners – not even Stevia. My body doesn’t like them. I don’t mind sugar on a very minimal level…so maybe I’ll give this one a quick try with that adjustment. Thanks for sharing!
