As part of our 15 day Magical European vacation, we stayed 5 days post cruise at this wonderful boutique hotel. Hotel Do on Placa Reial in Barcelona, exceed all of our expectations. We are very picky travelers and normally travel in luxury. We always expect the best, and that is what we received from this 5 star hotel, nothing but the best!
We reserved the Junior Suite and so glad we did! The bed was large and so comfortable. It had an amazing bathroom with Molton Brown products. The towels and robes were so plush and heavenly, I couldn’t wait to return to our room every night to take a nice hot bathe and slip on the plush robe.
Lets talk about the view, the hotel is located on beautiful Placa Reial. From our Balcony we can see others dinning, we can hear the locals playing music and drinking. Others might have been bothers by the night scene and day buzz, but we were happy to hear the sound of life from our balcony every day, it was glorious to be part of this culture.
Let’s talk about the amazing Spanish cuisine. All of the food, desserts, Cava and wine I drink was heavenly! Cava wine is what the French consider champagne and the Italian consider Prosecco. Cava is a Spanish sparkling wine from the region of Catalonia. It is made from Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarello grapes. When visiting one simply doesn’t leave without having tapas. Tapas are normally small plates, eaten at a bar and accompanied with drinks. This is very popular in Spain. We need to talk about this Cafe Bombon, it is espresso coffee sweetened with condensed milk. Giovanni ordered this and I could see why his eyes were sparkling, it was delicious!
In case you are wondering if we did anything besides eat during our vacation, we did! The beautiful thing about Europe is that we never rent a car, and barely take a Taxi. We mostly travel by foot, this helps burn all of those extra calories. During our vacation we visited Montjuic Castle. Wonderful experience, you must ride up a hill in a funicular. The views were amazing. We also visit the Boqueria Market, one of Barcelonas most famous market. We walked the Ramblas, another one of Barcelona’s famous streets.
